Short answer: open HarnessLaunch and press Update. That updates the DeepSeek Harness package, and it is included with your purchase.
There is a second thing that is also called “an update”, and it works differently: updates to HarnessLaunch itself. The two are worth keeping apart.
Two updates, two rules
| What gets updated | How | Included? |
|---|---|---|
| DeepSeek Harness (the agent) | the Update button inside HarnessLaunch | Yes, included |
| HarnessLaunch (the launcher) | announced on the update page; a later version is a separate purchase | No |
Updating the agent
- Open HarnessLaunch.
- Press Update.
- Leave it running until it finishes.
Use the button rather than updating the agent by hand. DeepSeek Harness is a package with its own version dependencies, and HarnessLaunch updates the exact package it installed — so what it starts afterwards is what it knows how to run.
Updating the launcher itself
Your purchase covers HarnessLaunch 1.0, and version 1.0 is what you keep. If a later version is released, it is a separate purchase — the same as buying a new version of any desktop application.
Launcher releases are listed on the update page. Right now there is nothing new there: 1.0 is the current version.
If the update does not complete
The causes that block an installer on Windows — SmartScreen and endpoint security tools refusing an unrecognised publisher — can block an update the same way.
If nothing happens, work through the troubleshooting page first: it covers blocking, file-lock and permission problems, each with symptom, cause and fix.
If it still fails, email [email protected] with what you did, what you expected, and the exact error text. That turns a two-day exchange into one reply.
HarnessLaunch runs DeepSeek Harness on Windows with one click. $4.57, paid once, no subscription. No account, no activation code. If it does not work on your machine, you get every cent back within 14 days.
